The following are the official poker hand rankings from best to worst. We have included the probability of being dealt each hand. In the case of two players having the same hand, in some types of poker games, the suits of the cards may determine the outcome (suit rankings in desceding order: Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs).
Royal Flush: (650,000-1)
The best hand in Poker - comprising of an Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten of the same suit.
Straight Flush: (72,000-1)
Five cards in consecutive numerical order and all the same suit. The higher the numerical value of cards the better the hand.
Four of a Kind: (4,200-1)
Four cards of the same rank (e.g., four Kings).
Full House: (700-1)
A combination of a pair of cards of the same rank and three cards of the same rank. The Three of a Kind counts first, so a Full House of Tens full of Threes (10,10,10 + 3,3) beats a Full House of Threes full of Tens (3,3,3 + 10,10).
Flush: (510-1)
Five cards of the same suit (e.g., five spades).
Straight: (250-1)
Five cards in consecutive numerical order, but of mixed suit. An ace can be used as both a high and low card.
Three of a Kind: (48-1)
Three of a Kind consists of three cards of the same rank.
Two Pairs: (21-1)
Two sets of cards of the same rank. When comparing hands with two pairs, the hand with the highest pair wins.
A Pair: (2.4-1)
This hand is simply a pair of cards of the same rank, for example two Twos. If the pairs are equal, compare the highest ranking odd cards from each hand.
High Card:
In the absence of any of the above hands, the highest card held by a player wins the hand. The highest card is an Ace of Spades.
